Learning at Home

Hello!

If anybody needs their students user names or passwords for Lexia, Moby Max, AR, utahcompose.com, or anything else, please email me and I can get you that information!

Also, we are starting to do some practice tests at school to prepare for the end of the year RISE test. We no longer do Sage. We are now doing Rise. If you want them to take practice samplers at home they can do this by going to this link: https://ut.nextera.questarai.com/tds/#practice and they can do samplers for math, language arts, science, etc.

Also please remember that we expect the students to read at least 30 minutes daily at home as part of their homework! It is so important to develop this habit and become a lifelong reader and learner and it will help their literacy scores go way up!

Thank you!
Professor Malouf

2/19 Spelling List and HW Note

I hope everyone had a wonderful President's Day weekend! It's always nice to have a Monday off.
This week there isn't a new spelling list. We are doing Unit 4: Week 4 from last week as a post test
today and then using that extra time this week to finish up our book club books, projects, and
presentations.

We finished up Chapter 8 last week in math and are starting up Chapter 9 today. It is more algebra :)
We will work on linear equations.

Don't forget to have your students work on Moby Max Math www.mobymax.com/ut1124 at home as well
as Lexia if they haven't completed all the levels yet, and utahcompose.com for writing practice.

These kids had some incredible Valentine Boxes! We had the loveliest day doing Valentine's math, madlibs, and learning about the history of the holiday. Then we had a magical ending with a grade level party with a magician and ice cream. These kids are the best.

Moby Max, Lexia, and Utahcompose

Hello!

We have a free month trial with Moby Max that should last until March 6th for full access. After that they can still log in with limited access. The students can log in with their lexia ID as the username and the password is their initials. This is a great tool to use at home. It helps fill in learning gaps. We've been using it for math at school. It is a lot like "Lexia" but for math. There are also fun learning games on there as well. They can go to the google classroom and click on my Moby Max link www.mobymax.com/ut1124 to sign in.

Please give it a try! We took a placement test and lots of students were placed around the 4th grade level because they had so many gaps they needed to review. Some placed in 6th or 7th. It teaches concepts through 8th grade level.

Also, if your student has not passed off Lexia yet I strongly encourage you to have them work on it at home. We only have chromes for a few hours each week and we have to devote a lot of that time to essay writing, nearpods, or other technology acitivities.

If your student is behind or getting low scores on essays, have them log into utahcompose.com at home. They should all know their logins and passwords. They can catch up at home and also practice writing with other given prompts.

Thank you!
