Thanksgiving Week/ Donations Please

Dear Parents and Students,

There is no homework this week as there are only 2 school days! Tomorrow I will bring some pies and we can play pie face the last little bit of school while we write down what we are thankful for about each other. When we come back we will be working on building little houses in groups and insulating them. I am requesting the following materials to help with our projects:

-cotton balls
-foam
-fabric
-felt
-packing peanuts
-bubble wrap
-newspaper/magazines
-aluminum foil
-wooden dowels
-cardstock paper
-paper towels
-We are also low on hand sanitizer and sanitzing wipes for our classroom :)

Happy Veteran’s Day! Today we had a special assembly to honor our veterans. Thank you, all you who have served. A week from today the 6th grade will be going on a field trip to Orem High School to see the Utah Symphony perform! We should be back right at our lunch time, so we will have lunch at school as normal. It should be a wonderful experience. I encourage students to dress nicely as it is a performance.Friday is the last day of term 1. Grades will be posted on Skyward November 27th. So get that make -up work in! Halloween Week!

Dear Parents and Students,

Happy Halloween Week! On Wednesday, students should come dressed in their costumes.
The parade will start at 9 am with the cute Kindergarteners. Parents should watch from the gym.
Students are allowed to stay in their costumes the rest of the day as long as they aren’t distracting to
learning and the students can sit down, write, and see properly. We will have our party with the whole 6th grade in the gym from 2-3 pm. This week for spelling we will study some spooky words :). In reading we
will work on inferencing and in writing we will finish up and share our scary stories. In math we will
finish up chapter 3 and test on Friday. Let’s have a spooktacular week!

10/15 Note: Harry Potter Movie

Dear Parents and Students,

Happy short week of school. After Wednesday there will be no school until next Tuesday. Because of the short week there will be no math reflection or spelling due this week, but the students are still expected to read 30 minutes each day. We finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on Friday and will be watching the movie on Wednesday doing a compare and contrast Venn diagram, character analysis, and relationship development. It should be a fun activity before Fall Break. The students are allowed to bring treats and snacks to share and wear pajamas and bring blankets, pillows, etc. If you have any concerns about your student watching the movie, please let me know. Thank you!
